Donation Policy
The Trust has established a set of guidelines for organisations seeking funds. Donations are made for charitable or energy related activities which have a clear ability to improve and benefit the Rotorua District Community.

In general, donations are made to:

• Organisations which provide services for those who may have been denied a quality of life enjoyed by the majority.
• Community organisations which offer their services for the benefit or enjoyment of the public and contribute to community well-being.
• Groups which give their time and resources to helping social problems.
• Organisations undertaking energy-related charitable activities.

What is Funded
Generally, applications are accepted from groups which are incorporated societies or charitable trusts. Donations cover a broad range of activities, projects and events.

What is not Funded
Operating costs are funded separately. Donations are not made to organisations run for private profit; to individuals, for salaries and wages or for sporting activities.

Area Covered
Applicants activities must be in the Rotorua District.

HOW TO APPLY

A wide range of organisations qualify for a donation from the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust.

To find out if your group or organisation is eligible, call the Trust on 347 6239 and ask them to send you an application form. Alternatively, collect one from the Trust's office at 1358 Eruera Street, Rotorua, or complete the application form online at this web site.

Once received, fully completed application forms are assessed by the Trust to ensure they meet the donations criteria.This process takes up to eight weeks for donation requests of less than $50,000.

When to Apply

Less than $30,000
Applications are considered each month. Applicants are advised to apply at least eight weeks before they need funds. Applications should be made by the end of each month.
$30,0001 to $100,000
Applications must be received by 31 March and 30 September for consideration by Trustees within eight weeks.
More than $100,000
No funding is currently available.
